WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Dear ASD Parents / Guardians & Students:

Welcome to the start of the 2024-25 school year! My family and I are so excited to join the ASD community of Mighty Griffins in order to build on the school’s 46 year tradition of success and academic excellence. Just as the popular African adage proclaims, “It takes a village to raise a child.” It will take each one of us — Board Members, Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Staff, Students, Parents and me — in our village of ASD to work together with patience, creativity, optimism, and gratitude to sustain and create an engaging and exciting learning environment.

My team and I look forward to seeing you and all the Mighty Griffins bright and early on August 26th. In the meantime, let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Onward and upward!

Mark Dempsey

Diversity and Inclusion

At The American School of Douala , we are dedicated to creating an environment where diversity is not only respected but celebrated. We embrace and value people from all cultures, tribes, and nationalities, fostering a community built on mutual respect and understanding.

We stand against all forms of discrimination and inequality, recognizing the importance of equity, fairness, and dignity for everyone, regardless of their background or identity.

At ASD, inclusion means that every individual—no matter their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, ability, or socioeconomic status—has a rightful place in our community, and together, we grow stronger through our differences.
