The National Honor Society (NHS) at the American School of Douala recognizes students in grades 10–12 who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. As part of the internationally respected NHS organization, our chapter upholds the highest standards of academic integrity, civic responsibility, and personal growth. NHS membership is both an honor and a commitment; a recognition of past achievement and a pledge to uphold the values of the society in future endeavors.
At ASD, membership in the NHS is both a prestigious recognition and a meaningful responsibility. Our NHS members are leaders in and out of the classroom. They serve as role models for the school community and actively contribute to initiatives that promote service learning, school spirit, and community engagement. NHS members at ASD serve as role models and student leaders who actively contribute to our school community and represent ASD’s values beyond the classroom.
To be considered for induction into the ASD chapter of the National Honor Society, students must meet the following requirements:
Students who meet the academic threshold are invited to apply and submit a detailed application in early September that reflects their accomplishments and alignment with the four NHS pillars. Final selections are made by the NHS Advisory Board based on a holistic review.
At ASD, we value every student’s language journey and are committed to ensuring that all learners feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
